Maria A. Freitas was born and raised in Brazil. Her exquisite talent for needle art started at a very early age, it was part of the curriculum in the school that she attended. Every year, she advanced in her knowledge of many needlework techniques. It was not only a required school subject, but in was also part of her family tradition that even her grandmother's grandmothers enjoyed. In 1967, she and her husband moved to the United States bringing along her love and talent for needlework. In 1979, she and her husband started the EdMar Company. She continues to enjoy teaching to individuals during trade shows, seminars or special classes. Her talend continues to flourish every day in every new piece of art that she produces.
